C2 ALL PURPOSE CARGO SHIP

260 - C2 types were built from 1939-1945. The first C2's of with 19 were built from 1939-1941 had these specs: 459' long, 40' depth, 63' beam, and 25' -10.5" draft. They began launching in June of 1939 the first being the SS Donald McKay. Most of the early C2's are named after Clipper ships, Sea Witch, Flying Cloud, and so on. Later C-2's varied in size and tonnage. The AT Sea Witch did survive WWII.

One interesting story you might want to read about is the Sea Witch and the USS Langley were on the ill-fated MS-5 convoy when USS Langley sank transporting P-40's to Tjilijap. The Sea Witch did deliver her 27 crated P-40E's.

This kit was nominated in the " Small Resin Ship Category" at the 2008 Nuernberg Show, but it did not win.

Civilian version would have C 02 Black hull, C 03 White superstructure & kingposts, and deck painted M 13 red; postwar USN version would be M 03 Modern USN Haze Gray and M 04 Modern USN Deck Gray.
